I'm excited to share that Country Homes & Interiors chose our sunshine trinket dish handmade by Beci Callow for the Christmas Gift Guide in their December issue, titled 'A Time to Reflect, Cherish & Renew: Show one-in-a-million favourites just how magical they are with an extra-thoughtful token of love and positivity.' Our trinket dish was recommended as a gift for the 'conscious campaigners.'
It's been nearly a year now since we first stocked the sunshine dishes by Beci Callow, an eco-conscious potter who lives in Leigh-On-Sea. I loved the bright design especially because I'd just finished reading a wonderful book called Joyful by Ingrid Fetell-Lee which tells us not to be afraid of colour, to go for brightness and round, playful objects. Especially at the start of lockdown in the UK, these trinket dishes seemed like the perfect gift and they still cheer me up when I look at them stacked on the shelf.
The sunshine trinket dishes are pinch pots, which means Beci shapes them with her fingers and each is a little different in shape. She then paints them and adds a dab of orange to the centre, where she carves out the face of a little sun. These then go in a kiln. You can see a snapshot of the process here:
