At the end of lots of planning, we're ready to introduce you to our new product - the Home Box.
The Home Box was born out of the realisation that many of us are becoming mindful about what we use and that we care about reducing waste and plastic in our homes.
The trouble is, once we realise we want to make a change, it can be hard to find a good alternative and even harder to stick with our resolution.
The Home Box is built on the philosophy that life changes are built in small steps.
A monthly subscription, the Home Box is a way to invest in positive change in your life and make a move towards sustainable and ethical living.
Each month, you'll receive 2-3 products from independent UK businesses that are geared towards reducing waste in your home, natural self-care and perhaps a treat. A card will come too, helping you understand the products and suggesting a couple of good habits you can use them to create.
This is the direction Authentic House is going in, and myself too, taking small steps to create fundamental change in the way we live and work within our planet.
We hope you'll join us each month as we explore different aspects of sustainable and ethical living through each box. Beyond your subscription, you can read all about the makers and businesses behind the products in our directory, go deeper into sustainable topics with our posts and share how you're doing with us on social media.
One great piece of advice I had was this:
"If there's something you really want to do, just take the first step and keep going from there".
It was from a wonderful video from a website The Female Lead and was a source of inspiration that led me to leave my job and start Authentic House. Take a look if you want inspiration to find a career you're passionate about.
The advice applies no less to our home lives though. The way we are living isn't sustainable - I addressed it in my last post - and social change only starts when a few people take the initiative to do better, live better and create a world we would want our grandchildren to live in.
If you would like to subscribe to the Home Box, you can join the waiting list now for our very first July box. It's a limited edition of just 30 boxes, so get in quick to have yours.
If you're based in Cardiff, we'd like to invite you to our Home Box launch event. It's a chance to join like-minded people over a glass of bubbly, hear directly from the makers of our first Home Box and be in with a chance to win one. Details coming soon...
Elsewhere in Cardiff and across the bridge:
Cardiff Salad Garden
Probably my favourite place I have ever volunteered in. It's great to see Cardiff locals and asylum seekers from all over the world gather together to tend salad. This week I met a whole family from Honduras who were friendly, full of conversation and optimism despite the challenges of uprooting themselves across the world.
Tyntesfield National Trust
This week we travelled across to England to visit the garden and house at Tyntesfield. My little sister is an unlikely teenager with a penchant for historic homes and a bucket list of ones to see. She's also a wonderful interior photographer, so here's a selection of her shots of the house and mine of the garden. It's a really good day out, particularly now when you can catch the work in progress at the house as they fix their new fire alarm system. It's really interesting to see behind the scenes at the National Trust.
Have a lovely weekend wherever it takes you!
